1. Operations/Hub Manager

Department: Operations · Reports to: Head of Operations / COO · Location: Lagos (on-site) Salary range: ₦[250,0000 – ₦300,000] / month (gross) + performance bonus

Role summary

The Operations Manager owns the day-to-day performance of GoCaby's shipment engine. You keep deliveries fast, reliable, and cost-efficient by coordinating dispatch, fleet, and field teams, and by continuously tightening the processes behind every trip. This is a hands-on, data-driven role for someone who thrives under pressure and treats logistics as a competitive advantage, not a support function.

Key responsibilities

  1. Own daily dispatch and fleet coordination across your hub or hubs, ensuring riders/drivers are allocated efficiently against live demand.
  2. Monitor and hit core operational targets: on-time delivery rate, delivery time (pickup-to-drop), fleet utilization, and cost per delivery.
  3. Track rider/driver performance, attendance, and productivity; run interventions where targets are missed.
  4. Diagnose and resolve operational bottlenecks (SLA breaches, delays, failed deliveries) at root cause, not just symptoms.
  5. Design and improve operating procedures — routing, batching, zoning, shift planning — to raise speed and lower cost per delivery.
  6. Manage escalations from customers, partners, and field teams, and coordinate cross-functionally with Customer Support, Sales, and Finance.
  7. Maintain accurate operational data (fleet counts, trip logs, incident reports) and ensure reporting integrity across hubs.
  8. Prepare daily/weekly operations reports and surface risks, trends, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
  9. Support scaling into new zones and cities: set up processes, onboard field teams, and hit launch targets.

Requirements

  1. 2+ years in operations, logistics, or supply chain — ideally in delivery, ride-hailing, e-commerce fulfilment, or a fast-moving startup.
  2. Proven ability to manage field/fleet teams and hit operational KPIs.
  3. Strong analytical skills; comfortable working with data, dashboards, and spreadsheets to make decisions.
  4. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making under pressure, with a clear bias for speed.
  5. Strong communication and people-management skills.
  6. Familiarity with dispatch/logistics tools and basic understanding of unit economics (cost per delivery).

Nice to have

  1. Experience launching operations in new cities or zones.
  2. Exposure to routing/dispatch optimization or batching logic.
  3. Experience in emerging-market / high-growth environments.

Success metrics (first 6 months)

On-time delivery rate, average delivery time, fleet utilization, cost per delivery, rider retention/attendance, and SLA compliance for key accounts.
